When a complex head injury restricted Carissa McCalls competition aspirations, she carefully selected only the best riders to continue her horses performance careers. This opportunity formed the partnership and friendship with top NZ/Australian rider Katie Laurie of Whispering Oaks Equestrian, based in Okotoks Canada. Since handing over the reins to Katie and her professional team, Mike and Carissa have seen their horses competing at the highest level in Australia, the USA and Canada.

Django is owned by the Django Syndicate and L Southern. Django is a very scopey young gelding (brother to Katie's World Class horse Delphi) out of Flower Power by International 5* Stallion Lordano. Flower Power, was a World Cup mare with Jeff McVean by Brilliant Invader and Django himself had just started his grand prix and world cups starts in Australia with excellent results before arriving in Canada. He is proving himself to be a super competitive horse with a ambitious heart for top level.

Gherkin (Esteban MVNZ) is just now rejoining Katie in Canada after delay's with horse transport due to Covid. Some of Esteban MVNZ's career highlights to date: 4th Australian Senior Title 2018, 4th NSW State Titles Grand Prix 2018, Top 10 in his two World Cup starts in Australia 2018, 1st Tamworth Grand Prix 2019, 1st Mini Prix Sunshine Coast Showjumping Club, 2nd Silver Fern Stakes NZ 2017. Gherkin is a super competitive horse and heaps of fun! We can't wait to see how he does with Katie in Canada.

Based in Okotoks, Canada with Katie Laurie of Whispering Oaks Equestrian. McCaw MVNZ is owned by Henwood Stables. He competed as a young horse with Carissa before stepping up to his professional career with Katie. Rocco (Tulara Zirensky) has recently left New Zealand to begin training at Whispering Oaks Equestrian in Canada. Rocco is an extremely scopey young horse, promising to be extremely competitive for top level. He is by Zirroco Blue out of a Cornet Obolensky dam.

CONNOR x CASUAL LVP
Picasso MVNZ (by Connor out of Casual LVP) only went to his first ever show in June 2020 (70cm) and by November he had won the 6yo 1.10m Rising Stars (on style) and was 1st equal in the 1.20m 6yo Series class today (the biggest he’s jumped!).
Massive thanks to Daniel Blundell for your help with this horse! Pickles was the first horse I started riding after my head injury - a green horse and probably not the most ideal after 3years off. Daniel is always happily steps in for all his firsts (first shows, first Liverpool’s etc etc) or when I just feel a bit chicken, something we really appreciate, and he rides him so beautifully! We are so lucky to have such a great team around us.

16yo Yirrkala Zakyra is a Hanoverian state premium competition mare that has already produced impressive progeny including Yirrkala Calvin who is competing in Europe. Zakky is by Calvados (IMP) out of a Lasino mare (Lasino is a son of Landgraf I). Zakky has been a super competitive mare throughout her career in Australia and New Zealand. She has been great at getting Carissa out and about to local competitions. Most recently in January at Woodhill Sands, placing 2nd in the Harrison Lane Pro AM Rider Series, double clear and 5th at Waitemata, a win in the 1.20m at Woodhill Sands in September 2020, but we are really looking forward to her 2022 foal as she has a frozen embryo to Glasgow van 't Merelsnest!

5yo Rodrigo MVNZ has just commence some young horse shows. In March 2021, at only his 3rd show, he won the 5yo Style Class at the Waitemata Show. He is known at home as Basil and we are very excited for the future with this young horse.

Boy was bred by Jeff McVean out of World Cup Mare Daffidol. He is a half sister to Katie Lauries young star, BOOM. Grand dam Flower Power has quite a legacy on NZ breeding. Including being the dam of Katie's former International 1.60m Horse DELPHI.
